Travis King was born on September 1 st in Louisville, Kentucky, but makes his home in Southern Indiana away from the hustle and bustle of city life. As an original member of Matt Sexton & Company Travis LOVED to perform! In December 1999 Travis was crowned Mr. Tynkers 2000 by a panel of respected judges from all facets of Louisvilles entertainment scene. Needless to say, Travis was THRILLED and continues to maintain his title proudly.
Travis, who didnt begin his kinging career until August 1999, was no slacker to his first year of performing. Notching the Mr. Tynkers title was of course exciting since Travis will always consider Louisville his home base but, certainly didnt keep his profile limited to the Louisville area. In fact, Travis performed a kinetic AC/DC solo on the same stage as Columbus, Ohios popular H.I.S. Kings during the First International Drag King Conference, and then gained international kudos when he entered and won the England based Rainbow Networks International Drag King Photo Contest. Renowned drag king photographer Del LaGrace Volcano, signed a personally autographed copy of the : Drag King Book by Judith Jack Halberstam and LaGrace. Del LaGrace wrote WELL DONE & AND CONGRATULATIONS TRAVIS KING- A STUNNING DRAG KING! Worthy praise from a most credible source and what a highlight for Travis to be honored so early in his career.
In August 2000 Travis suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm while on stage and was not expected to live; however after a thirty one day stay in the hospital and brain surgery, Travis not only survived, but has now returned to stun us once again. Travis returned to the stage in 2001 when he founded Gods Kings, Louisvilles premiere Christian drag king troupe.
